NOP’s library of Sound and Sensible interactive movies is made up of three engaging journeys that don’t just provide useful information, but give users the opportunity to walk in someone else’s shoes, make crucial decisions, and experience the outcomes of those decisions.

The Road to Organic Certification examines the early steps involved in the Organic Certification Process. The goal of this program is to remove common roadblocks transitioning farmers often face as they begin the certification process and condense the barrage of information into a simple but informative interactive tool. The Road offers Sound and Sensible guidance regarding certification, finding certifying agents, preparing for inspections, and keeping proper records.

The Path to Sound and Sensible Organic Inspections follows an organic inspector through an annual inspection with a certified organic farmer. This program is a tool for USDA-accredited organic certifiers and their organic inspectors and covers an array of topics, including: conducting opening meetings and farm tours, collecting samples, conducting audit trail exercises, and more.

The Investigation: The Trail of Evidence is aimed at USDA-accredited organic certifiers and their organic inspectors and explores Sound and Sensible practices and NOP guidelines related to the investigation of non-compliance complaints. In The Investigation, users become five characters at various stages of an investigation that stretches over a number of months, exploring topics as various as the five steps of an investigation process, effective interviewing techniques, and roles and responsibilities throughout the process, to name just a few.
